LAOH, STATE OF OHIO, HISTORY

The first charter in Ohio was issued in Cincinnati, Hamilton County in 1894. In 1895 a Division was established in Montgomery County.

Ohio has a long history of participation in the events of our Order: Trinity College, Junior Division, Nuns of the Battlefield Monument, the National Shire, the Notre Dame Hibernian Fund - just to mention a few.

In 1903 there were eighteen (18) Counties: Allen, Belmont, Butler, Clarke, Champaign, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Lawrence, Lucas, Madison, Mahoning, Montgomery, Muskingum, Perry, Scioto and Summit - with twenty five (25) Divisions active in the State. As of the 1992 Convention report, Ohio had nine (9) Counties and ten (10) Divisions. The 1960's appeared to be the time of the largest membership in Ohio with 3,502 members.

As of the 2007 year end report Ohio has eight (8) Counties (Cuyahoga, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lucas, Mahoning, Montgomery and Summit) and nine (9) Divisions with a total membership of 580.
